Should You Buy the Motorola Triumph From Virgin Mobile?
The Motorola Triumph is the new Android Smartphone from virgin Mobile.
It is making some huge waves in the prepaid phone community by being a 'high end' Droid-like Android device.
It costs $299, which is twice the price of the LG Optimus V.
The LG Optimus V is Virgin Mobile's most popular smartphone model, and I own one myself.
Should you buy the Motorola Triumph instead of the LG Optimus V?
In order to answer that question, you need to think about how much more space for apps and games, as well as built in flash is worth to you. Is it worth another $150?
I mean, you could buy two LG Optimus V phones for $299.
Motorola Triumph
My Experience
As a hobby, I write about cell phones from Virgin Mobile. This may sound odd, but I love it. Most of my attention has been on the LG Optimus V with a new website I've been working on called Rock That LG Optimus V.
In order to expand my horizons, I purchased the Motorola Triumph. I wanted to fall madly in love with it and recommend it, but this is not the case.
I am sending it back to Virgin Mobile this week because I do not like it better than my LG Optimus V.
This is why:
1. Its laggy - When I hold the Motorola Triumph next to the LG Optimus V, the LG Optimus V was faster every time.
2. Battery life is SO bad - It would take at least three charges a day. The battery is smaller than the one in the LG Optimus V, and it makes the LG Optimus V seem like an Ipod (apple is known for awesome battery lives) compared to the Motorola Triumph.
3. Touch sensitivity sucks! It reminds me of when I had the Samsung Intecept where I had to touch the buttons ten thousand times (hyperbole) to get a response. The touch precision seemed very blunt and NOT precise.
4. Available RAM for apps to use was less than the LG Optimus V, although technically the LG Optimus V is supposed to have less RAM. What good is extra space for apps if the RAM cannot handle it.
What Others Are Reporting
Its come to light from authority blogs like Techcrunch and Gotta Be Mobile that many people are having problems with the Motorola's camera. It has serious auto focus problems that, in many cases, are not helped by exchanging the hardware. Software issues are probably to blame, they say.
Many other people report having problems with the GPS, screen flickering, and low signal.
Be Heard!
Have you had problems with the Motorola Triumph?
In your opinion, which is the better phone?
The Real Winner
Moral of the story here, I am sticking with the LG Optimus V.
I'll end up with an extra $300 bucks in my wallet and a faster, longer lasting, and touch sensitive Android in my pocket.
Should you buy the Motorola Triumph? I argue, no.
